ABout Uganda

Uganda is a land locked country about 800km inland from the Indian Ocean. Uganda lies on the North western shores of Lake Victoria, extending from 1 south to 4 north latitude of 30 to 35East longitude. Uganda is boarded by Rwanda Tanzania to the south DR Congo to the west, South Sudan to the North and Kenya to the South. With land surface of 241,139sq km, Uganda occupies most of Lake Victoria basin.

1. Weather and Climate
Uganda has a gift of holiday weather all year round. There two reasons to explain this: one is its location on the equator and the other is its elevation. These two give Uganda the gift of perfect weather. The majority of the country has a tropical kind of climate varying according to altitude. The hottest months are from December to February and here the temperatures reach 29c and the rainy season run from April to May and then October to November.

Usually Uganda receives more rains in April although due to the global warming, sometimes this is unpredictable because even during the rainy season the sun is out most of the time and when it rain, soon the sun will be out.

2. Temperature
In some parts can be a bit cold due to the countries high altitude, despite its position on the Equator. Mountainous areas become cooler and then the other area become more warmer.

3. Populations
Uganda has the world’s youngest population a median age of 15 and the countries population is estimated to be 33million. Uganda has the biggest population growth rate among the East African countries estimated to be at 3.6%. Kampala is the capital and biggest with an estimated population of close to 3millions, followed by Jinja with 85000 and Entebbe with 55000.

4. People and Culture
Uganda is empowered with a very strong cultural heritage. Composed of many regions each with different cultures. Among this are Baganda, Basonga, Banyoro, Batoro, Banyankole etc. Each tribe or region has its own style of life and hospitable pus its own tradition dance and kings

5. Tourism and Wildlife

Uganda’s tourism inteneries is mainly based around the projected areas under the management of the government known as the Uganda Wildlife Authority[UWA], these protected areas are magnificent and encompass or have the conventional savannah with a variety of anthropoids Buffallos Elephants Girraffe, Zebra big cats etc

As yet an un touched by mass tourism, Uganda is the world’s premier primate viewing destination, home to half the world’s mountain gorillas big numbers of chimpanzee and a variety of monkey and for bird lovers, Uganda is an ideal destination with a record of more than 1000 species or birds hosting 50% of the continent species.

6. Passport and Visas
A valid passport is mandatory while traveling to Uganda. A visa to Uganda is issued at Uganda missions abroad and also at all entry points and all countries that require visa for Uganda visa prone in Uganda.

7. Foods and Dinning
Uganda offers a wide range of dishes ranging from continental, Indian, Chinese, Italian and many others. Kampala the capital is rich in with the finest restaurants serving food from all countries although four and five star lodges found in the national parks also boost the excellent cuisine.
